The Holistic Cat Conference – REPLAY August 5 & 6, this Weekend Only

Many of y’all know I wrote a book about holistic pet care and interviewed nearly 70 veterinarians while researching the material. Boy, did I learn a lot–and changed my mind about many things! These veterinarians also shared how holistic care had changed the way they practice vet care. You can also learn what is holistic pet care on this post.

So last month I introduced you to veterinarian Dr. Jeff Grognet, an advocate for cats and holistic care. He notes that forty years ago, veterinarians typically promoted dry kibble as the best cat food. And, we vaccinated every year. My, how times change!

“Now, we know better. But, there are many other things we need to look at and change our thinking on,” he says. So he created The Holistic Cat Conference. He asked me to speak (SQUEE!), and thousands of cat lovers came to the virtual event.

Dr. Jeff gathered 21 experts (including ME!) that live and breathe feline health and getting cats to thrive rather than just survive.

Speakers explained how and why holistic people will not suggest a dry diet. See how to do Reiki on a cat. Delve into the use of CBD and other ways to treat arthritis. Find out how to help kidney issues with herbal treatments. Discover ways to use homeopathy and much more.

One of my passions includes feline enrichment. My session covered why your cats need it, and lots of fun (and free) ways to generate the purrs and improve kitty emotional and physical health. Over 3,700 people watched the 7-day conference last month from all over the world. Because of the demand, host Dr. Jeff Grognet has opened it up again for 2 days, this weekend. He has also added a holistic topic each day for better care of your pet.

Black Cat Appreciation Day & Halloween Black Cats

August 17 is Black Cat Appreciation Day to counter the Halloween black cat negative myths. Of course, those folks who share their lives (and pillows!) with a special black cat know better. Sadly, too many black cats remain in shelters rather than being adopted.

In fact, some evidence supports the notion that black cats (one of the first “mutations” of wild coat color), enhanced what I call the feline friendly factor. Black cats often seem to be much more agreeable and love spending time with their chosen human. Maybe that’s why so many of the so-called witches were associated with black kitties.

People have more difficulty picking cats because they assume all felines are the same. And because usually, cats pick us.

Halloween pet safety is needed every year. Halloween at its best is a night of mystery, fun, and thrills for human children and many adults. Halloween Pet Costumes

Some pets enjoy dressing up, particularly the small dogs already used to wearing coats and sweaters in cool weather. There are many pet costumes available from pet products stores, from fancy to plain. If your outgoing, confident pet is willing, you can have great fun with costumes. But if your pets don’t care for dress up, don’t press it. Many pets may bite over Halloween out of fear of change.

Even reluctant pets may be persuaded to wear a fancy collar or bandana or painted toenails.
