Monday Mentions: Parakeets, Driving Dogs & Bestseller Insight

I had this scheduled for Monday…but it has come out a day early. That’s fine. Unexpected happens and we must be prepared to deal with the good, bad and unbelievable.

As I was writing this, I watch the tragedy unfold in Connecticut and mourn the senseless loss of life. I’d already planned to include the link to this song, and somehow it now seems even more appropriate.

Stand By Me sung around the world, at the same time, thanks to a creative mix. May we all “stand” together against evil. Amen.

Monday Mentions is the mash-up-day of all the neato-torpedo writer links and videos, pet schtuff and bling and writer-icity crappiocca collected over the past week. Please scroll down for some silly, fun, and moving videos, too.

  1. I have a midland accent also, in spite of not living in Chicago since I was 6. Evidently Texas and Oklahoma didn’t rub off too much and I have a good voice for radio and TV? Love the little blind kitty.

    • Carol, when I was in High School the speech teacher recorded all the students and sent off samples to some expert to evaluate. Mine came back saying, “Is she from Europe? What is that accent? or rather, no accent…”

*shrug* Always had an ear for mimicking accents but never really had one myself. Except my theater prof drilled into me the difference between “pin” and “pen” which he said I must have picked up from my KY relatives.

And yes, you have a great announcer voice. 🙂

  2. Well I have the Southern accent – no surprise. I was in Washington D.C. one time and some lady said you must be from Texas – she said the accent gave it away. I guess I sounded like a hick. Great links on the blog today.
