Monday Mentions: How Cats Read, Nonfiction Tips & Deadly Dog Virus

How Cats Read….via

Hey there folks, I’m head-down in revisions on the next thriller so this post is rather brief. A couple of things–if you subscribe by Email, you’ll notice I’ve changed this from sending the FULL message to just a portion. Also, I’ve been getting 1000+ spam comments a day from bogus “members” so I’ve tightened the subscription requirements. Also I did want to include a reminder that next Saturday I’ll be presenting a Webinar at WANAcon on the following:

Just The Facts: Create Winning Nonfiction Proposals: After publishing two-dozen nonfiction books with “traditional” publishers via an agent, I made every mistake possible–and also learned what worked. This session shows you how to choose saleable topics, build an impressive bio, query (or not), and craft the proposal. This includes what components make up the proposal, how to format, and create your competition/market survey. It also includes tips for finding expert sources. Oh, and the presentation includes some SQUEE! cute pet pictures, too! (you knew that was coming, right?)le

The whole slate of presenters and registration info for WANAcon is here. Remember, you don’t have to be present to “attend” because it’s all recorded so you can watch/listen/learn at your leisure while munching chocolates and a fav beverage for writer-ly inspiration. Hope to “see” you there!

And if not there, then purr-haps at the Cat Writers Association Conference next month. It starts on Oct. 31st and some of the attendees plan to dress up. I’m debating whether to spring for these. What do you think?

Monday Mentions is the mash-up-day of all the neato-torpedo writer links and videos, pet schtuff and bling and writer-icity crappiocca collected over the past week. Check out the fun doggy video at the bottom, too.  For new followers to the blog, welcome! and you can expect more cat and dog specific schtuff later in the week on Wednesday and Friday.
