Monday Mentions is the mash-up-day of all the neato-torpedo links and videos, pet schtuff and bling and writer-icity crappiocca collected over the past week. Some of this “schtuff” can be hard to categorize and may fit more than one topic so I urge you to at least scan them all.
My Internet finally came back up late last week. While it was down, here’s what I did:
You also won’t want to miss the awesome short video at the bottom of the post from Gayle Lynds interview with Catherine Coulter at this year’s Thrillerfest! Check out the shoes!
Before we get to the more serious stuff, enjoy this just-for-the-heck-of-it video. Serves ya right, if’n ya tease the toad…

thanks so much for linking to us! Have a great week!
Enjoyed the trailer…the B&W, the sound and voice tracks. Intriguing!!!
For a real change of pace, my trailer:
Wow I love this–yes, the kitty DOES have an impressive command of English. *s* Congratulations on the book launch in October, Cathy.
I missed that interview at ThrillerFest. Thanks, Amy! Hope your week’s off to a great start.
PS Black widow spiders are on the prowl around here… No good for pets.
August, it’s a great start–now that Internet is back up. Widow spiders are NOT a happy thing for pets or people. I wrote a short piece on dangerous stinging critters here: http://puppies.about.com/od/Puppy_Health/a/Spider-and-Scorpion-Stings.htm
Wonderful links, Amy, and I love the videos. Luckily, I take Monday mornings off “for me”, so enjoyed guilt-free viewing, and will be chuckling about the frog the rest of the day. But while I was already going to buy you upcoming book, the trailer hooked me all over again. I can’t find it yet for preorder from Amazon–wanted to give you the early numbers.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting! Nope, it’s not yet up for pre-orders. Grrrr! My publisher continues to struggle with this.
Amy, nice trailer….now you’re into what, IMO, is the hardest part of publishing: the marketing. I have found trailers only work (obviously) if you get them out there. Don’t know if you’ve considered this, but you might want to attach the url to your signature, so that every time you email someone, they get the trailer. If you create postcards or press releases or bookmarks, whatever, for the book, obviously, put it on there.Good luck with it. This is the trailer Zondervan made up for Thank You, God, from Kids Around the World.
[edited, removed bad link]
And, of course, it has to work. Ha.
Let’s see if it works now.
Allia, that’s lovely! Nice concept when the book has great images to simply use the illustrations themselves.
Good idea about including the URL in my signature. I have the trailer posted on the book page at my website, too, which will also have “buy” links once it releases. So I just added that url to my siggy.
I’ve met with Catherine Coulter and she’s freaking hilarious. I don’t know that it came across in that video, but she’s really a stitch. Best dirty jokes EVER.
And I watched that frog video three times! That’s some funny stuff.
Jenny, she IS a hoot! I’ve found that a number of the big-name writers are terrifically entertaining, too.
